Conversation in the car:
"I want to take my shoes off!"
"Ok, go ahead."
"NO!"
"Good idea. Keep them on, then."
(Sounding excited) "Ok Mommy!"
Glad we worked that out.

Context
Bill was after a fly, with the fly swatter. Haven wanted in on the action. Hope no neighbors heard her: "PLEASE let me kill it! PLEASE! I can do it daddy!!"

Two for one
1) Back story:
-Haven has a book about emotions. The W page says "W is for whiny, when my demands aren't filled."
-At daycare drop off this morning, she fell in the driveway and scraped both knees.
When I picked the kids up this afternoon, we got in the car and Haven immediately looked at me in the mirror with her puss face and said "I'm whiny." I asked her why she was whiny, what could we do to make her happy, and she kept repeating something I didn't understand (and she kept sighing and slapping her head, like "this ridiculous woman doesn't even speak english.") It finally clicked that she was repeating from the W page of her book. "Not filled" is what she was saying. "You're demands aren't filled? What do you need to not be whiny?" Lots of back and forth later, she spit out the answer - "Bandaids on my knees!!"
2) When we got home, Bill came out to help us out of the car. The sun was in Haven's face, so she shielded her eyes all dramatically "THE SKY IS IN MY FACE"
